The Global Association of Applied Behavioural Scientists

Social Media Terms and Conditions

The Global Association of Applied Behavioural Scientists (GAABS) encourages open discussion on its social media sites and anticipates that members of GAABS will look forward to reading your comments about your experience and expertise. GAABS does make reasonable efforts to monitor owned social media channels to ensure that posted comments are appropriate. These terms and conditions govern your use of any social media platform operated by GAABS and are subject to change without notice.

  • GAABS maintains social media channels in an effort to advance the field of applied behavioural science. As such, the association fully expects that members and non-members using or posting or tagging channels that belong to GAABS will engage in discourse that is professional and supportive of the field and its membership generally.

  • Caution should be used when implementing any recommendations posted by GAABS or by any other members of the online community on GAABS' social media channels.

  • GAABS makes no warranties or guarantees that information it provides or recommends will result in professional, career or organisational success.

  • Further, GAABS is only able to affirm accuracy of its posts for the moment that they are posted. GAABS may post content that is true in a specific instance or on a set date and time and further research or contextual understanding may show (even moments after GAABS' posting) that the understanding advanced is incomplete or inaccurate as colleagues around the globe work to address gaps in understanding of behavioural science.

  • Information that you post on GAABS' online postings should not be anticipated to remain private or wholly owned by you. By posting any materials, information or data online, you are affirming that this information can and will be used by other individuals online or by GAABS' directly.

  • You are responsible for the content you post and all activity that occurs under your account. You may not misrepresent yourself or take on the identity of someone else while using GAABS' sites.

  • You agree not to use any of GAABS' sites for:

    • Personal attacks

    • Defamation

    • Harassment

    • Spam

    • Offensive content

    • Aggressive behaviour

    • Illegal activities

  • You agree not to post content that is illegal, obscene, defamatory or threatening or abuse intellectual property rights on GAABS' sites.

  • GAABS reserves the right to review, edit and/or delete any of your postings in its sole discretion. Further GAABS reserves the right to block your channels from interacting with GAABS social media channels.

  • Should GAABS find that discourse occurring on its channels is inconsistent with its high standards of professionalism, it maintains the right, in its sole discretion, to delete and block all posts that are inconsistent with the tone and tenor of its platforms.

  • While GAABS makes reasonable efforts to monitor and moderate posted content, it does not moderate all comments and cannot always respond in a timely manner to online requests for information.

  • Opinions and views expressed by individuals as postings on GAABS' sites are not necessarily those of GAABS, its directors, advisory board members, partners, general members, employees, or members of its staff.

  • All links to other websites are part of efforts to serve online participants. GAABS is not responsible for the content of these linked websites and such linkage does not constitute endorsement of those sites by GAABS.

  • By posting content on any online channel owned by GAABS, you give GAABS a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual and worldwide license to use your content including the right to copy, distribute, transmit, display, reproduce, edit, translate and reformat and incorporate into a collective work. Other participants on social media channels may use your posted content beyond the control of GAABS. GAABS does not have the ability to monitor, intercept or otherwise remove your content from any web presence owned by another entity.

Syndication or Repurposing of GAABS Content

In general, GAABS supports the distribution of its content through social media sharing mechanisms provided that sharing is done in a way that retains all rights of content origination accruing to GAABS with regard to content ownership and copyright. In cases where individuals or institutions wish to syndicate GAABS' digital content, we require that you:

  • Secure written authorization to do so from info@gaabs.org prior to posting GAABS’ content on another site.

  • Attribute the content to GAABS by listing our institution’s name and linking to the location or origin online.

  • Refrain from substantively changing the content without written authorisation to do so.

  • Refrain from suggesting in any way that the use of GAABS' content signals an endorsement by GAABS or any of its affiliated organisations.

Regardless of whether you are granted prior authorisation to syndicate or modify our digital content, GAABs retains the right to demand immediate removal of our content from another website for any reason.
