If you had to summarise your submission into a “TL;DR” what would you say (use one or two sentences)?
2024 Entry: using choice architecture by adding intentional friction within a digital user journey to prevent users from reversing valid debit orders through their banking app, while also saliently communicating the consequences of doing so, all to prevent the unintentional cancelation of their essential insurance policies.
2023 Entry: a communication experiment to increase policy activations for one of the most culturally significant insurance products in South Africa. The winning condition resulted in both increased policy activations as well as the highest persistency rate in payment collections over time.

Looking back at your winning submissions now, is there anything additional that you'd like people to know about why it stands out to you, or why the research was/is important to you?
It's extremely important to me that the work that I do fulfils the purpose of solving important customer problems by removing barriers of financial literacy within the financial services industry. I believe that the most impactful interventions don’t have to be the most complicated ones, and that is what stood out to me about both submissions - they were both extremely simple and yet resulted in such significant impact.

What advice would you give to future award entrants?
There isn't a set recipe for success when it comes to the methodology of your research. Both of my submissions had very different methodologies - one was a lot more simple than the other. But the relevance of conducting the research is what I believe was the strength. Behavioural science interventions are so powerful when the intention behind the application is clear.
